DESCRIPTION
The 1st Circle focuses on physical and vocal training and on character research and it introduces the basic tools of actor’s dramaturgy as well as principles of solo and group creation. It is divided into 3 BLOCKS:
PHYSICAL TRAINING – RESEARCH ON THEATRE CHARACTER
The class is divided in two parts. On the first part, we work the physical awareness and body-mind connection, elaborating principles of actor’s presence through breathing, rhythm, balance, body-space and group-relation exercises. The second part is concentrated on the physical research of a theatre character: connection with the time, space, will and conflict of the character and how is manifested through the body.
VOCAL RESEARCH AND TRAINING
The class elaborates different ways of using the voice both as an instrument for actor’s work and as an inspiration for theatre research and creation. On the one hand, we focus on the dramaturgy of the voice, through the precision of vocal actions. On the other hand, we work on rhythm and vocal dynamics, using traditional Balkan, South European and South American songs, as well as group songs of African origin.
GROUP CREATION – THEATRE MONTAGE
The class deals with the passage from physical training to scenic presence, from actor’s dramaturgy to partner work. It aspires to montage together the physical and vocal materials of the participants into one group creation / performance which will be presented in the end of the 1st Circle in a no conventional space.

L A B 1st Circle is directed to theatre students, actors and performers. Requirements: a good physical condition, passion for acting and interest for theatre research.
